How Salik Works

Understanding Dubai's advanced electronic toll collection system

RFID Technology

Salik uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to provide seamless toll collection without requiring vehicles to stop.

When a vehicle with a Salik tag passes through a toll gate, the system automatically detects the tag and deducts the appropriate fee from the prepaid account.

1. Tag Installation

The Salik tag is affixed to the inside of your vehicle's windshield, behind the rearview mirror.

2. Detection

As you approach a toll gate, overhead antennas detect the RFID tag on your windshield.

3. Transaction

The system automatically deducts the toll fee from your prepaid account.

4. Confirmation

A green light confirms successful transaction, allowing you to continue driving.
